Warning Symbols on the Multi-Information Display

~1min read

If the system detects a problem affecting vehicle operation, such as low engine oil level or an improperly closed door, a corresponding warning message is shown on the multi-information display. The normal display sequence is interrupted, and one or more symbols and/or text messages are displayed. Most warning messages remain on the display for 5 seconds, after which normal display operation resumes. Some warning messages remain on the display until the problem is corrected.

On a new vehicle, only symbols without text messages are displayed as warnings. This mode is set by default for all vehicles delivered from the factory. You can select the mode that displays symbols with accompanying text messages (page 118). Some symbols, such as the low outside temperature warning and the rear passenger seat belt reminder, do not have text messages.

This section shows symbols with text messages as examples; however, the same symbols may be displayed without text if the default mode is selected.

When symbols with or without text messages are displayed, the corresponding indicators on the instrument panel may illuminate, and the information message indicator also illuminates.

The information message indicator does not turn off until the problem is corrected.

The following pages list all symbols and text messages.
