Folding the Rear Seats
To increase cargo space in the luggage compartment, the outer rear seatbacks can be folded down separately.
If the rear seatback is partially folded, only one outboard passenger seat will remain available. In this case, you will not be able to use the seat belt of the center rear seat position (for some vehicle versions).
Before folding the seatbacks, remove all items from the seat cushion.

Before folding the rear seat, make sure there are no objects on the cabin floor.
1. Insert the shoulder belts of the outboard rear seat belts into their guides.
2. Move the head restraint to the fully lowered position.

3. Pull up the lock lever located on the side of the seatback.
4. Fold the seatback forward.
Do not place heavy objects on the folded seatback.

To return the seatback to the upright position, repeat the procedure in reverse order. Rock the seatback to make sure it is locked securely. If the seatback is not fully locked, the seat belt will not function properly, and you will see a red indicator behind the lock lever, as shown in the illustration.

WARNING
When returning the center rear seatback to the upright position, be sure to also set the head restraint in the raised position.

WARNING
Before starting to drive, make sure the seatbacks are securely locked in the selected position.
Make sure all items in the luggage compartment are securely fastened. Unsecured items may be thrown forward with force during emergency braking and injure vehicle occupants (see Cargo Loading on page 310).
