This section describes how to safely remove and install the battery on the Ford Mustang (VI Gen). It explains in detail how to avoid power interruptions and the correct sequence for disconnecting the battery. The section also includes practical maintenance tips and information on safe battery disposal in accordance with environmental standards.

Removing and installing the battery

To disconnect or remove the battery, proceed as follows:

  1. Apply the parking brake and switch off the ignition.
  2. Switch off all electrical equipment, such as lights and radio.
  3. Wait at least 2 minutes before disconnecting the battery. *
  4. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal first.
  5. Disconnect the battery cable from the positive terminal last.
  6. Remove the battery retaining clamp.
  7. Remove the battery.
  8. Install in the reverse order.

*The engine control system has a power hold function and remains powered for a period after the ignition is switched off. This allows diagnostics to be performed and adaptive tables to be stored. If you disconnect the battery without waiting, damage may occur that is not covered by the warranty.

**Make sure the ignition remains off when you reconnect the battery.

Note: If you disconnect only the negative battery cable, make sure it is insulated or kept away from the battery terminal to prevent accidental contact or arcing.

Note: Make sure the battery cable terminals are securely fastened.

Note: When you disconnect or replace the battery, you must reset the clock and the preset radio stations after the battery is reconnected.

Battery Disposal

Always dispose of used batteries in accordance with environmental protection regulations. Check with local authorities about recycling old batteries.

Checking the Wiper Blades

Run your fingertips along the edge of the wiper blade to check for roughness.

Clean the wiper blades with a soft sponge or cloth using washer fluid or water.

Replacing the Wiper Blades - Left-hand Drive

1. Pull the wiper blade and wiper arm away from the windshield and squeeze the locking tabs together.

2. Pivot the wiper blade and remove it.

3. Attach the new wiper blade to the arm and let it snap into place.

Replace the wiper blades at least once a year to ensure optimum performance.

Poor wiper performance can be improved by cleaning the wiper blades and the windshield.

The instructions for removing and installing the battery, and for checking and replacing the wiper blades on the Ford Mustang (VI Gen, 2014–2023), place particular emphasis on safety and careful work. The 2014–2023 Ford Mustang combines sporty engineering with practical everyday usability to make maintenance simple and safe.

Particularly important is waiting before disconnecting the battery to avoid damage to electronic systems, as well as disposing of the battery correctly in accordance with environmental regulations.
