Checking the Coolant
Checking the engine coolant is one of the most important vehicle care tasks. This section explains how to check the coolant safely, why overfilling is dangerous and which safety precautions apply when opening the reservoir. This helps ensure long engine life and safe driving, especially under heavy load or in hot weather.
WARNINGS
Do not add engine coolant while the engine is warm. Steam and hot fluid escaping from the cooling system can cause severe burns. Coolant spilled on hot engine parts can also cause burns.
Do not add engine coolant to the windshield washer fluid reservoir. Engine coolant sprayed onto the windshield can severely impair visibility through the windshield.
To reduce the risk of injury, make sure the engine has cooled down before removing the coolant reservoir cap. The cooling system is under pressure. Loosening the cap even slightly can cause steam and hot coolant to escape.
Do not fill coolant above the MAX mark.
The instructions for checking the coolant in the Ford Mustang (VI Gen, 2014–2023) emphasize safe handling of the cooling system. The Ford Mustang 2014–2023 provides clear recommendations to avoid injury and engine damage, for example by opening the coolant cap only when the engine has cooled down.
Maintaining the correct level is especially important to prevent overheating or frost damage. The Ford Mustang VI Generation combines performance engineering with a high standard of operational safety and durability.
This cooling system concept supports the Ford Mustang (6th Gen, 2014–2023) in delivering reliable performance in every situation while optimally protecting the engine.
