Central locking – operating principle
The central locking operates when the front doors are closed. The following are unlocked or locked simultaneously:
► doors;
► tailgate/rear lid;
► fuel filler flap.
The central locking can be operated
► from outside by remote control, and by turning the key in the driver's door lock;
► from inside by the central locking switch.
When operated from outside, the anti-theft alarm system is activated simultaneously with the locks. It prevents the doors from being unlocked using the locking buttons and door handles. When locking, the vehicle is armed; when unlocking, it is disarmed.
In the event of an accident, all doors unlock automatically, except those that were additionally locked using the locking buttons, see page 32.
At the same time, the hazard warning lights and interior light are switched on.
