Seat Belts

Fastening
The buckle must lock with an audible click.
Warning Lamp
The lamp illuminates shortly after the vehicle starts moving and stays on until the driver and front passenger fasten their seat belts. At the same time, a warning chime sounds and, depending on equipment, a message from the self-diagnostic system appears.
These signals also sound if the driver or front passenger unfastens the seat belt while the vehicle is moving.
All of the warnings listed above may also be triggered if objects are placed on the front passenger seat.
Unfastening
1. Hold the belt with your hand.
2. Press the red button on the buckle.
3. Feed the belt back into the retractor.
On rear seats: the buckle marked CENTRE is intended only for the passenger seated in the center position.
If the center belt does not extend, this means that the large rear backrest is not locked. See page 129.

Seat Belt Height Adjustment
Adjust the seat belt to fit your height.
To do so, slide the adjuster down or up.
Damaged Seat Belts
After an accident or if damaged, the seat belts, including the belt tensioners and child restraint systems, must be replaced, and their mountings must be inspected.
Have this work performed only by a BMW service center.
