Parking Brake

The parking brake is used to hold a parked vehicle from rolling away. It acts on the rear wheels.

Applying the parking brake: When the parking brake is applied, the lever locks automatically. If the ignition key is in position 1, the indicator lamp illuminates in the instrument cluster.

Releasing the parking brake: Pull the lever up slightly, press the button and lower the lever.

If you have to use the parking brake while driving in exceptional circumstances, do not apply it too forcefully and keep the button on the lever pressed at all times. Applying the parking brake too forcefully may lock the rear wheels and cause the vehicle to skid.

The brake lights do not illuminate when the parking brake is applied.

When parking on roads with a steep incline, apply the parking brake.

To prevent corrosion of the brake discs and uneven braking, lightly apply the brake from time to time before stopping at a traffic light, if traffic conditions allow.
