Windshield Wipers and Rain Sensor

0 Wiper park position

Rest position. The left wiper arm is partly hidden under the hood. To set the wiper blades to a vertical position, for example when replacing the blades or moving them away from the glass when parking in severe frost:

► move the lever switch to position 1 and switch off the ignition as soon as the wipers stop.

With rain sensor:

1. Move the lever switch to position 1, 2 or 4.
2. When the wipers are approximately in the vertical position, switch off the ignition.

Replacing wiper blades.

Be sure to press the wiper arms against the glass before turning the ignition key to position 1 or 2. Otherwise they may be damaged when switched on.

Intermittent operation (except vehicles with rain sensor). Using knurled wheel 7 you can select one of four intervals. The system additionally varies them depending on vehicle speed.

Rain sensor. The sensor is located on the windshield, directly in front of the interior rear view mirror.

Switching on: with the ignition key in position 1 or higher, move the lever switch to position 1.

The wipers make one stroke across the glass, confirming that the sensor is switched on.

You may leave the lever switch in position 1. Then, after turning the ignition key to position 1, you only need to switch on the rain sensor. To do this, turn knurled wheel 7 slightly.

Sensitivity adjustment: turn knurled wheel 7.

Switching off: move the lever switch to position 0.

Before driving into a car wash, switch off the rain sensor. Otherwise, unintended wiper operation may damage the wipers.

Normal wiper speed. When the vehicle stops, the system automatically switches to intermittent operation (except vehicles with rain sensor).

High wiper speed. When the vehicle stops, the system automatically switches to normal speed (except vehicles with rain sensor).

Windshield washer. Spraying washer fluid onto the windshield is accompanied by brief operation of the wipers.

Special windshield washing program. In addition to mode 5, several cycles of windshield and headlamp cleaning are performed.

It is recommended to use this program after driving on very dirty roads.
