Starting the Engine - Vehicles with Diesel Engines
With a cold engine:
► Leave the ignition key in position 2 until the indicator lamp or the "PREHEATING" message goes out.
► Start the engine.
At very low temperatures, increase the starting time to 40 seconds.
With a warm engine:
► The indicator lamp or the "PREHEATING" message does not come on. The engine can be started immediately.
Depressing the accelerator pedal has no effect on the starting process.
Do not warm up the engine at idle; drive off immediately at moderate engine speed.
Bleeding the diesel fuel system: bleeding the fuel system is generally not necessary, even if the fuel tank has been completely run dry.
If starting problems still occur:
► increase the starter engagement time to 20 seconds.
