Jacking
The jack included with the vehicle is intended only for wheel change procedures. When performing any other repair or maintenance work, lift the vehicle with a hydraulic (or trolley) jack and be sure to support it on special stands placed under the load-bearing points of the underbody. If wheel removal is not required, the vehicle can be driven onto an inspection pit or lift.
Before jacking up the vehicle, park it on a level, horizontal surface, preferably with a hard surface. If there is any slope, take precautions against rolling: place wheel chocks against the wheel diagonally opposite the one to be removed, and firmly apply the parking brake. Do not stray far from the jacked-up vehicle, especially if children are nearby.
Before jacking up the vehicle, remove the wheel cover and use the wheel wrench to loosen the wheel nuts of the wheel to be replaced. Prepare the spare tire.
On some models, the wheel cover is attached to the wheel by the wheel nuts. At this stage, only loosen them!

Position the jack at the reinforced jacking points located at the front or rear of the sill flanges.
Make sure the jack head engages securely with the sill stiffener flange. Turn the jack handle to raise the vehicle until the wheel to be replaced is off the ground. Remove the wheel nuts, remove the wheel, and install the spare wheel in its place. Install the wheel nuts, then lower the vehicle to the ground, remove the jack, and tighten the wheel nuts in a diagonal sequence to the specified torque. Install the wheel cover. Fold and stow the tools. Do not forget to remove and stow the wheel chocks.
When performing repair work under the vehicle that is more extensive than a wheel change, support stands are usually used in addition to the jack. Support stands can be placed under the sill jacking points using the same slotted block, or under any of the main underbody structural members as close as possible to the sill jacking points.
Never position the jack under other sill points, the oil pan, floor panels, or directly under steering or suspension components!
Never perform any repair work under a vehicle supported only by a jack! Always use reliable support stands!
