Opening the hood

Move the automatic transmission selector lever to "P" or "N" and apply the parking brake. Pull the hood release handle located on the left side under the instrument panel. The front edge of the hood should rise slightly.

Standing in front of the vehicle, insert the fingers of your right hand under the front edge of the hood (to the right of center), slide your hand to the left and locate the secondary hood latch handle. Pull the handle up to release the secondary latch and free the hood. Lift the hood.

If the hood opens without first releasing the secondary latch, if the handle is difficult to move, or if the spring does not return to its original position, clean and lubricate the latch mechanism.

Release the hood prop rod from its clip and insert its end into the socket on the underside of the hood. The socket is located approximately in the middle, under the front edge of the hood.

To close the hood, lift it slightly and remove the end of the prop rod from the socket in the hood. Return the rod to its place and snap it into the clip. Lower the hood to a height of about 30 cm above the radiator grille, then release it. The hood latch should engage when the hood drops from this height.

Make sure the hood latch is securely engaged.
