Anti-Theft Alarm

~2min read

The anti-theft alarm helps prevent vehicle theft or theft of valuables from the passenger compartment and trunk. If an unauthorized attempt to enter the vehicle or remove the radio is made, the horn sounds and the exterior lights flash: the headlights, front and rear side marker lights, and turn signals. The audible alarm operates for two minutes, after which the security system returns to standby mode. On some vehicle versions, the audible alarm sounds for only 30 seconds. To set the system to standby mode without waiting for the two minutes to elapse, unlock one of the front doors using the key or the keyless entry remote transmitter.

Сигнализация включается в дежурный режим автоматически спустя пятнадцать секунд

The alarm system automatically enters standby mode fifteen seconds after all doors, the luggage compartment lid and the hood are closed. To arm the security alarm system, lock the door locks from outside the vehicle: with the key, the lock button, the central locking switch or the remote control transmitter. The arming process is indicated by the flashing of the system indicator lamp built into the fuel level/engine coolant temperature gauge assembly of the instrument cluster.

After the arming is complete and the anti-theft alarm system is in standby mode, opening any vehicle door (without using the key or remote control transmitter), the luggage compartment lid or the hood will trigger the alarm. The audible alarm also activates if an attempt is made to remove the audio system from its mounting slot in the control panel or if the wiring is cut.

When the alarm is in standby mode, the luggage compartment lid can be opened without triggering the alarm by using the main ignition key or the remote control transmitter. The alarm will be triggered only if the luggage compartment lock is forced or opened using the button located inside the vehicle on the driver's door.

The anti-theft alarm will not enter standby mode if one of the doors, the luggage compartment lid or the hood is not fully closed. If the alarm does not arm, check the door ajar and luggage compartment lid ajar warning lamp on the instrument panel (refer to Vehicle Equipment, Location of Instruments and Controls), then manually check that the hood is closed.

Do not attempt to modify the anti-theft alarm system or any of its components. This may reduce the effectiveness of the system's security functions.
