Climate Control System

The automatic climate control system may be standard equipment on some models and controls ventilation, heating and air conditioning in the cabin. The heater and air conditioner maintain the set air temperature. In addition, the climate control system automatically selects the blower speed and distributes airflow depending on the set temperature.

The direction of airflow entering the cabin from the center and side ventilation outlets can be adjusted manually using the movable louvers; the louver control levers are located in the middle of the vent grilles. If desired, airflow through the side instrument panel outlets can be completely shut off.

To switch the climate control system to automatic operation, press the "AUTO" button on the instrument panel. Turn the temperature control knob to set the desired air temperature. The message "FULL AUTO" should appear on the system display. The indicator lampinforms the operator whether recirculation mode is on or off.

The system automatically creates the optimal combination of airflows from the air conditioner and/or heater core to heat or cool the cabin air as quickly as possible to the set temperature.

For fastest heating or cooling of the cabin air, turn on recirculation mode and turn the temperature control knob to one of the extreme positions (left or right). This sets the upper (32°C) or lower (18°C) limit of the controlled temperature. If the temperature control knob is set to one of the extreme positions, the system will operate continuously without switching off, heating or cooling the air with maximum possible efficiency. In this case, the system does not monitor the current cabin air temperature. If the knob is set to one of the intermediate positions, the system will automatically maintain the set cabin air temperature.

In cold weather, the blower automatically switches on only after the engine has been running for some time and the heater is ready to heat the air.

To switch off the climate control system, press the "OFF" button. Do not leave the system switched off for any length of time. To prevent stale air and unpleasant odors in the cabin, it is recommended to keep the blower switched on at all times.

Semi-automatic operation

It is possible to manually activate any of the climate control functions while the system is operating in automatic mode. All other system functions remain under automatic control. Pressing any control button switches the system to semi-automatic mode; the indicator lamp built into the "AUTO" button and the "FULL" indication on the display should go out.

The air conditioner is switched on and off with the "A/C" button. The air conditioner status is shown on the display as "ON" or "OFF". When the air conditioner is switched on manually, the climate control system does not cool the air entering the cabin below the ambient temperature. With the air conditioner running, set the comfortable supply air temperature using the corresponding control knob.

The button with the pictogramis used to switch recirculation mode on and off. If the indicator lamp built into this button is lit, air is continuously recirculated within the cabin volume. If the indicator lamp is off, fresh air from outside is supplied to the cabin and is pre-conditioned by the climate control system to the set parameters. Recirculation mode can be switched on manually, for example when entering an area with smoke or polluted air; the indicator lamp built into the button lights up when the mode is on.

The button with the blower pictogram allows manual control of the blower speed. The first press of the button switches the blower from automatic to manual mode, and it starts running at minimum speed. Each subsequent press increases the blower speed by one step. The current blower speed level is shown on the control panel display as a bar graph. Once the maximum level is reached, the next press switches the blower back to minimum speed.

The "MODE" button is used to change the air distribution directions in the cabin. Each press changes the mode in a fixed sequence, shown by the corresponding pictograms on the control panel display. To view all available modes, press the button four times:

a) Air enters the cabin
simultaneously through the defroster vents for the windshield and side windows, located on the upper dashboard shelf, and through the lower ventilation outlets;
b)The main part of the incoming air is delivered to the driver's and passenger footwells through the lower ventilation outlets;
c)Air enters the cabin simultaneously through the center and side instrument panel vents, and through the lower ventilation outlets;
d)The main part of the air is delivered through the center and side instrument panel vents.
When the button with the pictogram is pressed,the main part of the incoming air is directed to the windshield to quickly defrost it. This button has priority and cancels any previously set air distribution mode.
When the button with the pictogram is pressed,outside air recirculation is automatically switched off and fresh air intake is activated. To remove frost or ice from the windshield more quickly and effectively, select the maximum blower speed. The airflow to the windshield can be increased by closing the side vents. Pressing the button againreturns the system to its previous operating mode.

The rear window defogger button is used to remove condensation and frost from the rear window.

Solar radiation and outside air temperature sensors
The climate control system includes two information sensors: a solar radiation sensor mounted on top of the instrument panel, and an outside air temperature sensor located near the steering wheel. Do not place any objects on top of the sensors and do not allow any liquids to get on them.
