When replacing seat belts, make sure the selected anchorage points are correct. The seat belt anchorage points are shown in the illustrations.

Система дополнительной безопасности (SRS)

Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
The components of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) include:

a) Two front airbags. The driver airbag module is located in the steering wheel hub. The front passenger airbag is located in a special cavity in the right side of the instrument panel. The locations of both airbags are marked with warning labels "SRS AIRBAG";
b) Directional deceleration sensors that activate in a severe frontal impact;
c) An electronic self-diagnostic system that, with the ignition on, continuously tests the deceleration sensors, control unit, airbag inflators and connecting wiring of the corresponding circuits;
d) Automatic emergency tensioner devices for the front seat belts (see above);
e) SRS malfunction indicator lamp built into the instrument panel (see Section Vehicle Equipment, Location of Instruments and Controls);
f) A backup independent power supply designed to duplicate the main power supply in case it fails during a vehicle collision.

Operating Principle of the Front Airbags
Directional deceleration sensors respond when a certain threshold value is exceeded, which may occur in a severe frontal collision. Upon receiving a signal from the sensors, the control unit activates the airbag inflators, causing the airbags to inflate instantly.

Во время столкновения ремень безопасности удерживает от смещения нижнюю часть

During a collision, the seat belt restrains the lower part of the occupant's body from moving forward. The front airbags help prevent injury to the driver and front passenger from their heads and chests striking the steering wheel/instrument panel.

Since the signals to deploy both airbags come from the same sensors, both airbags deploy simultaneously. However, it is possible for only one airbag to deploy. This can occur when the magnitude of the directional deceleration forces generated during the collision is close to the deployment threshold of the inflators. In this case, the seat belts provide sufficiently reliable protection for the driver and front passenger, while the effect of the airbag deployment will be minimal.

Immediately after deployment and after the airbags have performed their function, gas is vented from them, which allows the driver to maintain visibility and freely operate all vehicle controls.

The total duration of the process, from the moment the impact sensors send the signal until the gas is vented from the airbags, takes a fraction of a second. Deployment occurs so quickly that the human ear is simply unable to perceive the sound of the inflators firing as the airbags fill.

After a collision in which the airbags have deployed, the vehicle interior may appear slightly smoky. This is actually a cloud of fine powder that is normally dusted onto the airbag covers when folded. People with respiratory conditions may experience some discomfort from the gaseous products released into the air by the airbag inflators.

SRS Warning Lamp Operation
The SRS warning lamp is located in the instrument cluster and warns the driver of faults detected by the self-diagnosis system in the supplemental restraint system. On some vehicle models, illumination of the warning lamp indicates possible malfunctions in the side airbag modules or the automatic seat belt pretensioners.

When the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" [II] position, the warning lamp illuminates briefly and then goes off immediately, which confirms that all system components are functioning properly.

If the warning lamp illuminates at any other time, the vehicle owner should have the system checked by a Honda dealer service department at the first opportunity. Such situations include the following:

a) The warning lamp does not come on when the ignition switch is turned to ON (II);
b) The warning lamp remains on after the engine is started;
c) The warning lamp comes on and stays lit or flashes while the vehicle is being driven.

If any of the above warning signs are present, the supplemental restraint system may fail to deploy in a vehicle collision.

Ignoring SRS warning lamp signals may result in the most serious consequences if the airbags fail to deploy during a collision.

Additional Information on Side Airbags
Some models may be equipped as optional equipment with driver and front passenger side airbags. The airbag modules are mounted in the outer edges of the front seatbacks. The locations of both side airbags are marked with the label "SIDE AIRBAG". The SRS warning lamp on the instrument cluster also illuminates when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag initiation circuits.

При сильном боковом ударе датчики направленных перегрузок фиксируют превышение

In a severe side impact, the directional deceleration sensors detect that the resulting loads exceed a specified threshold value and send an information signal to the control unit, which issues a command to fire the inflator of the corresponding side airbag. In this case, if the impact is on the passenger side, the passenger side airbag will deploy even if there is no passenger in the front seat.

To ensure the greatest effectiveness of the protection provided by the airbags, the driver and the front seat passenger must sit upright and be secured with seat belts.

SRS Component Maintenance
The airbags and automatic emergency seat belt pretensioners practically require no regular inspection or maintenance. However, the owner of a vehicle equipped with these systems should keep the following points in mind:

a) After an airbag has deployed, the airbags must be replaced together with the SRS control unit. Do not attempt to remove deployed airbags yourself. These operations must be performed only at an authorized service workshop;
b) If the SRS indicator light shows a system malfunction, contact the nearest Honda dealer without delay for a complete diagnosis and necessary repair of the system. Otherwise, the airbags may not deploy in a collision and may not perform their protective function;
c) Only specially trained personnel are permitted to work on supplemental restraint system components. Do not remove airbags or seat belt pretensioners from the vehicle yourself. In case of an SRS malfunction or after airbags and seat belt pretensioners have deployed, contact a Honda dealer to repair or replace system components;
d) Do not open the modules or modify the wiring of the airbag and automatic seat belt pretensioner systems. Such interference may cause unintentional airbag or pretensioner deployment and injure the person performing the work or people nearby;
e) Do not replace the front seats without first consulting a Honda dealer.

Careless or incorrect installation or removal of seat covers may prevent the side airbags from deploying in a collision.

Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas. Inhaling carbon monoxide causes loss of consciousness and may result in death. Avoid staying in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas, or performing work that requires you to breathe air containing high concentrations of carbon monoxide! In enclosed spaces with poor ventilation, such as a garage, CO concentration can quickly rise to dangerous levels. Therefore, never leave the engine running with the garage door closed. Even with the garage door open, do not leave the engine running for extended periods. Immediately after starting the engine, drive out of the garage and continue warming up the engine outside.

When driving with the tailgate/luggage compartment lid open, engine exhaust gas may enter the passenger compartment and create a dangerous situation. If the door/lid cannot be closed, fully open all windows and turn on the ventilation and air conditioning system.

When inside the vehicle with the engine idling (even in an open area), perform the following settings:

a) Set the cabin ventilation system to fresh air intake mode;
b) Set the heater fan to maximum speed;
c) Use the temperature control to set a comfortable air temperature.

Location of Warning Labels
The labels are located at the positions shown in the illustration and are intended to warn of potential hazards. Ignoring these warnings may result in serious consequences. Carefully read the text of the warnings.
