Radio Care
During operation of the car audio system, the magnetic head of the cassette deck gradually becomes contaminated with dust and particles of the magnetic layer shed from the tape. If the magnetic head is heavily contaminated, the sound quality during playback deteriorates. For this reason, it is necessary to clean the magnetic head regularly, every 30 hours of deck operation.
Neglecting the care of the audio system and failing to follow the specified head cleaning schedule may lead to a situation where removing the accumulated deposits with a standard cleaning cassette is no longer possible.
The deck is designed to automatically eject an audio cassette that for any reason cannot be played normally. If the cassette is ejected before playback begins, this may indicate that it is damaged. Do not attempt to reload such a cassette. Playback may sometimes stop, the deck reverse mechanism may engage once or twice, or the cassette may be ejected. These symptoms usually occur due to mechanism binding or uneven resistance to tape winding on the cassette reels. In this case, remove the audio cassette and manually rewind the tape by several turns of the reel.
The cassette deck of the car audio system is designed for use with audio cassettes with a recording time of up to 100 minutes. Using higher-capacity cassettes with thin magnetic tape may cause the deck to malfunction or the tape to deform.
Carefully inspect the audio cassette before inserting it into the deck slot. If the magnetic tape is slack, take up the slack by turning the reel hub in the appropriate direction using a pencil or your fingers.
If the label is peeling off, reattach it or remove it completely. Otherwise, a loose label may cause the cassette to jam when you try to eject it from the deck. Do not insert a bent or broken audio cassette into the deck slot.
Do not leave audio cassettes in places exposed to high temperature or high humidity, such as the upper shelf of the instrument panel or inside the cassette deck. Do not insert an overheated or overcooled cassette into the audio system until its temperature has returned to normal.
Do not insert foreign objects into the cassette deck slot.
