Hazard Warning Switch, Rear Window Defroster, Rear Fog Lamp and Fog Lamp Switches

Hazard Warning Switch


The hazard warning flashers are activated by pressing the push-button switch located in the center of the instrument panel. The switch is usually fitted with an indicator lamp showing two interlocking triangles.

When the hazard warning system is activated, all four turn signal lamps flash simultaneously (together with their indicators on the instrument cluster). The system warns other road users that the vehicle has stopped due to an emergency and is also used in other hazardous situations as specified by traffic regulations.

Rear Window Defroster Switch


The defroster removes condensation, frost and even a thin layer of ice from the surface of the rear window. The switch is located in the center of the instrument panel. When the defroster is switched on, the indicator lamp built into the switch illuminates. To switch off the defroster, press the switch again.

On models equipped with an automatic climate control system, the defroster switch may be integrated into the climate control panel. Always check the rear view through the rear window before driving.
The wire grid of the defroster heating element is bonded to the inner surface of the rear window and must be handled with care. Do not damage the grid when cleaning the glass. Clean only in the direction of the heating wires.

Rear Fog Lamp Switch

The rear fog lamps can only be switched on when the headlamps and/or front fog lamps (if equipped) are on. To switch on the rear fog lamps, press the switch located in the instrument panel. The switch contains an indicator lamp that reminds the driver that the rear fog lamps are on. To switch them off, press the switch again.

The rear fog lamps switch off automatically together with the headlamps.

Fog Lamp Switch


The front fog lamps can only be switched on when the parking lamps are on, and they switch off automatically when the parking lamps are switched off. To switch on the fog lamps, press the switch located in the instrument panel. The switch contains an indicator lamp that reminds the driver that the fog lamps are on. To switch them off, press the switch again.
