Hood Latch Cable and Bushing

Remove or disconnect:

PROCEDURE.

1. Raise the hood and install the hood support..

2. Unscrew the three upper radiator grille mounting screws.

3. Lift the lower part of the grille to access the four mounting screws.

grille to the outer bumper cover. Unscrew the 4 screws.

4. Remove the radiator grille from the vehicle.

5. Remove the latch return spring from the front body crossmember.

6. Unscrew the cable clamp mounting screws.

7. Disconnect the cable from the latch return spring.

8. Remove the left panel by disengaging the two retainers.

9. Remove the hood latch release handle. Pull the cable through the bushing into the passenger compartment.

10. Disconnect the cable from the handle.

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. Route the cable through the bushing from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment.

2. Seal the front body panel bushing joint and the bushing-to-cable interface with Strip Caulk (or equivalent) sealant.

3. Connect the cable to the handle.

4. Install the handle with cable on the vehicle.

5. Install the left panel by engaging the two retainers.

6. Connect the cable to the latch return spring.

7. Install the spring on the front body crossmember.

8. Secure the cable with the clamps and screws.

9. Install the front grille on the vehicle. Screw the 4

grille mounting screws into the outer bumper cover.

10. Screw in the three upper radiator grille mounting screws.

11. Check the operation of the hood latch cable release mechanism and, if

necessary, adjust it.
