GENERAL INFORMATION

Rear Bumper

1. REAR BUMPER DECORATIVE CHROME MOLDING.

2. REAR BUMPER OUTER COVER.

3. HONEYCOMB ENERGY ABSORBER.

4. REAR BUMPER IMPACT BEAM.

5. REAR BUMPER MOUNTING BRACKETS

Remove or disconnect:

PROCEDURE.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the 2 outer cover mounting screws from the flanges of the rear

wheel housings.

3. Remove the 2 outer cover mounting bolts whose heads are located in the

rear wheel housings.

4. Luggage compartment carpet fasteners. Fold the carpet forward to access the rear part of the luggage compartment floor.

5. From inside the luggage compartment, remove the 4 upper bumper mounting nuts (two on each side) and remove the washers.

6. From under the bumper, remove the 4 lower mounting nuts (two on each side) and remove the washers.

7. Disconnect the wiring from the license plate lights and reverse lights.

8. Remove the bumper from the vehicle.

Warning.

To separate the rear bumper outer cover from the honeycomb

energy absorber, remove the 6 lower clips.

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. Connect the wiring to the license plate lights and reverse lights. Install the bumper mounting fasteners in their original positions.

2. Install the 4 lower nuts (two on each side), first fitting the washers. Access the mounting fasteners from under the bumper.

3. Install the 4 upper nuts (two on each side), first fitting the

washers. Access to the fasteners is from the luggage compartment. Tighten the nuts

rear bumper mounting torque 27 N·m.

4. Install the two rear bumper outer cover mounting bolts (from the rear

wheel housings). Tighten the rear bumper outer cover mounting bolts.

to 20 N·m..

5. Install two screws (one on each side) into the flanges of the rear wheel housings. Lay the luggage compartment carpet back in place.

6. Secure the luggage compartment carpet.

7. Negative battery cable.
