Rear Door - Weatherstrip

GENERAL INFORMATION

Rear Door Weatherstrip (hatchback)

1. SEAL.

2. INSERT

The rear door weatherstrip is a closed-loop seal made of soft, cellular rubber.

A metal insert is molded into the seal to ensure a secure and tight fit of the seal on the flange of the door opening edge.

Remove or disconnect:

PROCEDURE.

1. Remove the weatherstrip from the flange of the rear body opening.

2. Remove the connecting insert from the old weatherstrip.

3. Clean off adhesive residue along the perimeter of the rear door opening.

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. Install the connecting insert into the new weatherstrip.

2. Install the weatherstrip onto the flange of the rear door opening edge.

3. Check the seal is securely attached, making sure the seal

is fully seated on the edge of the opening around the entire perimeter.

Using a water hose, check the rear door seal for leaks by checking for water entering the body. If the required sealing is achieved,

the rear door lid seal does not need to be glued. If water enters the body,

remove the weatherstrip and install it with adhesive.

4. Install the weatherstrip onto the flange of the rear body opening edge.
