GENERAL INFORMATION

WARNING: The knock sensor is very fragile and will be damaged if dropped or struck. The knock sensor is installed on the rear side of the cylinder block. Removal and Installation

PROCEDURE

1. To access the sensor, apply the parking brake, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands. The sensor can be accessed from underneath the vehicle.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Then disconnect the sensor connector.

4. Remove the bolt securing the sensor to the cylinder block and remove the sensor from underneath the vehicle.

5. When installing, make sure the mating surfaces of the sensor and the cylinder block are clean and dry.

6. Install the sensor so that its connector faces the right side of the engine, then install the mounting bolt and tighten it to the specified torque.

7. Make sure nothing else is touching the sensor, then lower the vehicle to the ground and connect the battery.
