GENERAL INFORMATION

Idle Speed Control Valve The idle speed control valve (indicated by arrow) is installed on the air cleaner housing base.

Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the air cleaner cover and filter following the instructions in subsection 6.1.2 to access the valve.

2. The operation of the valve can be checked using a thermometer and a hair dryer. Position the thermometer as close as possible to the valve, then carefully heat it with the hair dryer. The valve must remain closed at temperatures up to 38° C, begin to open at temperatures from 38° C to 48° C, and fully open at 48° C. Allow the valve to cool and check that it closes completely.

3. If the valve does not open at the specified temperatures or does not close, it must be replaced.

Emission Control Valve Replacement

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the air cleaner filter element by referring to the instructions in Sub-section 6.1.

2. Disconnect the hose from the bottom of the valve, then remove the mounting screws and detach it from the air cleaner housing.

3. Installation is the reverse of removal.
