Fuel System Depressurization

~1min read

GENERAL INFORMATION

WARNING: Observe fire safety rules when performing this work.

The fuel system remains under pressure both when the engine is running and when the ignition is switched on. After the ignition is switched off, the pressure may remain in the system for some time. Relieve the residual pressure before removing any component.

PROCEDURE

1. Locate and remove the fuel pump fuse from the fuse/relay box.

2. Start the engine and wait until it stalls.

3. Check for fuel in the system by restarting the engine.

4. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

5. It is recommended to install the fuse only after the work is completed. If the fuse must be inserted to perform the work, do not turn the ignition on.
