Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the throttle body, referring to subsection 6.3.1.

2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system, referring to subsection 2.4.5.

3. Note or mark the routing of all vacuum hoses and cooling system hoses on the intake manifold.

4. Disconnect them from the intake manifold and, if necessary, from the corresponding vacuum valves.

5. To avoid mixing up the hoses during installation, mark each hose when removing it.

6. On models with a catalytic converter, unscrew the union nut and disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation tube, which connects the intake and exhaust manifolds, from the valve on the left side of the intake manifold.

7. Disconnect the connector from the coolant temperature sensor on the right side of the manifold.

8. If necessary, remove the mounting bolts and disconnect the ground wire from the intake manifold.

9. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the mounting bracket at the rear of the intake manifold.

10. Check that all vacuum/ventilation hoses are disconnected from the intake manifold.

11. Loosen and remove the mounting nuts and bolts in the reverse of the tightening sequence.

12. Remove the intake manifold from the cylinder head and take it out of the engine compartment, then remove the intake manifold gasket and discard it.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

2. When installing, pay attention to the following points.

3. Check that the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and cylinder head are clean and dry, and install a new gasket over the cylinder head bolts.

4. Install the intake manifold and tighten the mounting nuts and bolts to the specified torque in the specified sequence.

5. Check that all related hoses are connected correctly and secured (where necessary) with hose clamps.

6. Install the throttle body, referring to subsection 6.3.1.

7. After installation is complete, fill the cooling system with coolant.
