Throttle position sensor

~1min read

GENERAL INFORMATION

The throttle position sensor potentiometer is installed on the right side of the throttle body. Removal and Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Before removal, disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Access to the fuel pressure regulator will be greatly improved if the air cleaner is removed (see sub-section 6.3.1.2).

3. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

4. Using white paint or a marker, make alignment marks on the throttle body and the throttle position sensor.

5. Remove the two mounting screws, then remove the mounting plate and the throttle position sensor.

6. When installing, position the throttle position sensor on the throttle body so that its lever is correctly located above the throttle shaft lever.

7. Install the mounting plate, then align the marks made before removal and loosely tighten the mounting screws.

8. Adjust the throttle position sensor. To do this, using a tester set to measure resistance, check that the sensor resistance is as specified in subsection 6.3.1.1.

9. If necessary, loosen the mounting screws and rotate the throttle position sensor.

10. Once the throttle position sensor is correctly positioned, securely tighten the mounting screws and connect the connector.

11. Connect the battery and, if necessary, reinstall the air cleaner.
