Thermal Vacuum Valve
GENERAL INFORMATION

Thermal Vacuum Valve – Carbureted Engine Models The thermal vacuum valve (indicated by the arrow) is located on the right side of the intake manifold.
Replacement
PROCEDURE
1. The thermal vacuum valve is located on the right side of the intake manifold. The engine and intake manifold must be cold when removing the valve.
2. Drain some of the coolant from the cooling system (see subsection 2.4.5) so that the level drops slightly below the valve, or prepare a suitable plug to seal the intake manifold opening after the valve is removed. If you use a plug, take care not to damage the manifold and do not use anything that would allow foreign objects or substances to enter the cooling system.
3. Disconnect both hoses from the valve.
4. Carefully unscrew the valve from the intake manifold and remove the O-ring (if equipped).
5. Installation is the reverse of removal. When installing, use a new O-ring (if necessary). If no O-ring was fitted to the valve, apply sealant to its threads before installation.
