Replacement

PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve, which is installed on the left side of the intake manifold. If necessary, remove the air cleaner to improve access to the valve. On some models, access can be improved by also removing the backpressure valve (see subsection 6.4.2.4.2).

2. Loosen the union nuts and disconnect the EGR tube and the backpressure valve tube from the EGR valve.

3. Remove the two mounting nuts/bolts and washers and remove the valve from the intake manifold. Remove the gasket and discard it.

4. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Use a new gasket during installation.
