Removal

PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2. Remove the air cleaner.

3. Press the tabs and disconnect the connectors from the throttle position sensor, the bypass air valve, the air flow meter, and the idle air control valve.

4. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle valve, loosen the nuts, and remove the cable housing from the bracket.

5. Disconnect the kickdown cable (on vehicles with automatic transmission).

6. Mark all vacuum and air hoses and disconnect them from the throttle body.

7. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body and quickly plug them.

8. Remove the bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove the throttle body and gasket.

9. Plug the opening in the intake manifold.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Install in the reverse order.

2. Clean the mating surfaces, replace the gasket, and tighten the bolts in two stages to the specified torque.

3. Check that all hoses and wires are correctly connected and securely attached.
